Vehicle insurance (also known as car insurance, motor insurance and automotive insurance) is insurance for your vehicle, bakkie, motorcycle etc. The primary goal of vehicle insurance is to safeguard the client against any financial loss due to an insurable event occurring to the vehicle, damage caused by an accident and the resulting liability.

With vehicle insurance there are a couple of different cover options that you can purchase. The least expensive and most limited cover is Third Party only cover.

With Third Party Only cover, in the event of an accident between yourself and a third party, you will enjoy cover to repair the other persons vehicle/property as well as liability cover. The damage to your own vehicle will be for your own account. ONLY the other parties’ damages will be paid.

Third Party, Fire and Theft cover will give you cover for the third party property and liability as before. The cover is extended to give you compensation in the event of the vehicle being damaged due to fire or the vehicle being damaged due to theft or attempted theft as well as total loss in the event of theft and hijacking. Accident damage to your own vehicle is still excluded.

Comprehensive insurance will give you cover for the third party, liability, fire, theft and own damage.
